CHICAGO WHITE SOX CHARITIES HONORS 2023 GRANT RECIPIENTS
Today’s Sox Pregame Ceremony Recognizes 46 Chicagoland Organizations
CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox today announced cumulative charitable donations of more than $1.9 million over the past year.
Donations include $717,000 in grants to 28 Chicagoland non-profit organizations through the White Sox Community Fund, a McCormick Foundation (MF) Fund, as well as $140,000 through Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) to eight agencies providing services throughout the community. In addition, Sox Give, a White Sox employee-driven program, awarded $69,000 to 10 different agencies.
CWSC also made donations totaling nearly $550,000 to fund White Sox youth baseball initiatives – including the organization’s Amateur City Elite (ACE) and Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) programs – and to fund non-profit organizations, such as the Jackie Robinson Foundation and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
This year’s grant donations, coupled with charitable contributions since the inception of CWSC, move the team’s total philanthropic giving to more than $40 million.
“After a truly incredible year of White Sox Charities fundraising, our organization is proud to continue its support of local organizations at the forefront of enriching the community and the lives of our neighbors,” explains Christine O’Reilly, CWSC executive director. “Today’s ceremony celebrates our extended family of fans and partners who give back to Chicago’s youth, lend a helping hand to those facing extreme hardships and inspire positive social change across the city. We’re thrilled to recognize this remarkable work and further spotlight the organizations’ community-focused missions.”
“We are proud to partner with the White Sox to deliver positive change in Chicago,” said Sonia Mathew, McCormick Foundation director of partnerships. “Our partnership has delivered $9.6 million in grants to nonprofits providing vital services across the city and supporting hundreds of young people and their families.”
The White Sox will hold a special ceremony, presented by Peoples Gas, to recognize the 46 non-profit organizations prior to the game today against Boston at 3:10 p.m. CT. Hall of Fame legend and six-time Major League Baseball All-Star Harold Baines is scheduled to join the group, with representatives from each organization enjoying a post ceremony reception in the ballpark’s Upper Terrace.
Each year, grants are made possible by generous contributions from White Sox corporate partners, fans and matching funds from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. Fans can show their support throughout the 2023 season by participating in a variety of fundraising initiatives, including Sox Split 50/50, presented by Wintrust, online and in-park auctions, among other programming.
